KPIT Technologies 2026 salary hike delay and fresher pay explained

KPIT has not published a wage-hike percentage or an appraisal month for this cycle. What is different this time is that its top management addressed the hike directly, on the record, on an earnings call, rather than leaving it to candidate reports alone. This guide sticks to KPIT's own transcript of that call, its results release and what KPIT employees report on AmbitionBox, and is upfront about what is still not confirmed. For the placement process that gets you to a KPIT offer in the first place, see this site's KPIT placement papers 2026 hub.

What KPIT Has Actually Said About the 2026-27 Hike

On KPIT's earnings call for the April to June 2026 quarter (Q1 of its FY2027), held on 29 July 2026, an analyst from IIFL asked whether wage hikes were coming soon or would be deferred to the second half of the year. Kishor Patil, KPIT's co-founder, CEO and MD, answered. He said that in three of the last five years most tech companies had been "very soft" on increments, and then: "this is the first time we have delayed." He said KPIT will do it in stages, giving it to some of the younger grades soon, while senior people will get it over a longer period.

That is the entire confirmed picture: a delay, a staged rollout, junior grades ahead of senior ones, and no date or percentage attached. KPIT has not published an HR circular that PapersAdda could fetch; the official call transcript on KPIT's own investor site is the most specific public statement PapersAdda found as of 28 September 2026. One caution if you read the call elsewhere: a third-party transcript that circulated online attributes this answer to Joint MD Sachin Tikekar, while KPIT's own transcript attributes it to Patil.

The Quarter Behind the Delay: KPIT's Q1 FY27 Numbers

The year-on-year picture depends on the currency: revenue grew in rupees and held flat in constant currency, but fell slightly in US dollars. The sharper drop was against the previous quarter. Patil said profit was hit by a forex loss and by KPIT's share of losses at Qorix.

Why Automotive Matters for KPIT Pay

KPIT describes itself as a mobility specialist, with "over 25 years of specialized expertise in Mobility" in its own words, which is why this cycle's numbers, and the hike delay that came with them, look different from a general IT services slowdown. Opening the call, Patil described an automotive industry "facing some challenges globally, especially on account of extreme competition from China", made worse by tariffs and other geopolitical pressures, and by "the war", which he said hit carmakers' supply chains and input costs. He said European players were "the most impacted", and across the wider auto industry, not KPIT specifically, he listed "many job cuts, many profit warnings, many pay cuts, ongoing restructuring, significant write-offs".

For KPIT itself, Patil said the quarter's decline "has been because of the top 2 clients", and he put the revenue impact in Europe at about 4% for the quarter. The results release, by contrast, flagged growth in the US geography. Management's outlook was that "H2 will be better than H1, and we will return to growth in H2 by Q4." PapersAdda's reading, not a KPIT statement: moving junior grades first and deferring senior grades until revenue turns is a way to limit cost in a soft half without freezing every grade at once.

What Is Confirmed and What Isn't About the Timing

Confirmed, from KPIT's own transcript of the 29 July 2026 call: the hike is delayed, for the first time in Patil's words, it will be staged, and younger grades come first. Not confirmed anywhere PapersAdda could fetch as of 28 September 2026: an exact month, a percentage, or which grades count as "younger" versus "senior" in KPIT's internal terms. Do not plan around a specific date for this cycle. If your own appraisal letter or HR communication gives you one, that is the only date that binds, not this article.

The Fresher Angle

The "younger grades soon" line is the most fresher-relevant detail on the call. On pay itself, AmbitionBox's employee-reported data for KPIT Technologies, checked 28 September 2026, shows a fresher Associate Software Engineer at Rs 4.3 to 4.8 lakh a year and a fresher Software Engineer at Rs 4.4 to 5.3 lakh a year. Across a wider 0 to 4 year experience band, AmbitionBox reports Software Engineer pay at Rs 5.6 to 6.2 lakh a year, and a 0 to 2 year Associate Software Engineer band at Rs 4.4 to 4.8 lakh a year.

Individual reviews set a cautious baseline for what "hike" has meant lately. One Web Developer review from Pune on AmbitionBox, updated on 25 June 2026, describes increments as "zero to minimum" and says even top performers get 3%, with 80% of that going to variable pay. AmbitionBox's aggregate rating from 4.2 thousand KPIT reviews, checked 28 September 2026, scores the company 2.8 out of 5 overall, with Promotions the lowest category at 2.3 and Salary at 2.7. Read against Patil's July answer, the fairest summary is that KPIT is changing the order in which grades get their increment, on a base that employees have recently described as thin, not promising a large percentage.

WHAT PAPERSADDA THINKS

The useful headline here is not a number, it is KPIT's CEO, on the record, calling this the first delay of its kind and doing so on the same call where he laid out a global automotive downturn. That is more concrete than most "salary hike" pages on this topic manage. It is not a commitment to a date or a percentage, and reading it as one would be a mistake. If you are a fresher at KPIT reading this for reassurance, the reassurance is real but narrow: younger grades are first in line, in Patil's words, with no figure attached. Confirm your own outcome on your appraisal letter when it arrives, and treat the automotive-cycle context here as a reason to expect a modest number rather than a generous one, whenever it lands.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a KPIT salary hike in 2026?

Not on the usual schedule. On KPIT's 29 July 2026 earnings call, co-founder, CEO and MD Kishor Patil said this is the first time the company has delayed the increment, and that it will be given in stages rather than all at once. As checked on 28 September 2026, KPIT had not announced a date or a percentage.

Why did KPIT delay its 2026-27 wage hike?

Patil did not give a separate reason in his answer on wages. The same call opened with his account of a global automotive slowdown that hit European carmakers hardest, and KPIT's constant-currency revenue fell 3.6% from the previous quarter. PapersAdda's reading is that the delay follows from that, but that is an inference, not a KPIT statement.

Will freshers get the KPIT hike before senior employees?

Patil said KPIT will give the increment to some of the younger grades soon, while senior people will get it over a longer period. He did not name a month or define which grades count as younger.

When will the delayed KPIT hike actually land?

KPIT had not stated an exact date anywhere PapersAdda could verify as of 28 September 2026. Management's outlook on the same call was that the second half of the fiscal year will be better than the first, with a return to growth by the fourth quarter, but that is a business outlook, not a hike date.

What is the KPIT fresher salary in 2026?

AmbitionBox's employee-reported data, checked 28 September 2026, shows a fresher Associate Software Engineer at Rs 4.3 to 4.8 lakh a year and a fresher Software Engineer at Rs 4.4 to 5.3 lakh a year. These are employee-reported figures, not an official KPIT number; confirm your own offer against your letter.

How did KPIT's April to June 2026 quarter go?

Per KPIT's 29 July 2026 results release, revenue was $176.8 million, up 8.9% year on year in rupees and 0.1% in constant currency but down 0.6% in US dollars, with EBITDA at 17.2%. On the call, Patil put profit after tax at INR 1.17 billion (about Rs 117 crore), hit by a forex loss and KPIT's share of losses at Qorix, and said constant-currency revenue fell 3.6% from the previous quarter.

Is KPIT's hike delay unusual for the company?

Yes, by its own account. Asked about wage hikes, Patil said that in three of the last five years most tech companies had been very soft on increments, and then said this is the first time KPIT has delayed.
