PapersAdda is an independent site and is not affiliated with Capgemini. This page is the end-to-end map. It follows the order in which Capgemini itself describes the journey and shows exactly where the official description stops and candidate reports begin. Round-by-round question detail lives on the sibling pages linked below.
What Capgemini publishes, and what it does not
As checked on 31 October 2026, the address capgemini.com/in-en/careers/fresher/ returns a "page not found" message, and the students and graduates page describes graduate programmes in general terms without naming any fresher track or giving eligibility numbers. The two pages that matter are the recruitment process page and the interview tips page.
That matters because many sites talk about Analyst, Senior Analyst or Exceller tracks as if Capgemini publishes them. On the pages above it does not. Those names, and the pay figures attached to them, are candidate-reported. If you see a track name in your own invitation mail, that mail is the authority for your drive.
The four official steps
Capgemini's recruitment page says the process is "structured into clear, sequential stages". Here is each one in the company's own order.
Step 1: application. Jobs are listed in the job search section. You provide your name, contact details and latest CV. A CV is mandatory; a cover letter is optional.
Step 2: screening and position mapping. The team reviews the application and may call for a short discussion. It then checks how your skills line up with open positions and tells you the next step, including interview scheduling.
Step 3: interviews. An email or call invites you to an HR screening, by video or phone. At this stage you may need to complete proctored online technical and language assessments, where applicable. A technical interview follows, by video or in person, and depending on the position there can be one or two. After a successful technical evaluation comes an HR behavioural interview.
Step 4: onboarding. Capgemini asks you to open your candidate portal and submit details and documents. After the validations, the recruiter arranges a compensation discussion, then extends the formal offer. You accept it on the candidate portal, and background verification starts after acceptance. A recruiter or the recruitment engagement team stays in touch through onboarding.
Stage table: what happens and what to prepare
| Stage | What happens (Capgemini's description) | What to prepare |
|---|---|---|
| Application | CV mandatory, cover letter optional | One clean CV; the same name and date of birth as on your marksheets |
| Screening | Application review, possible short call | A reachable phone number and an inbox you check daily |
| HR screening | Video or phone call | A quiet room, a stable connection, a one-minute self-introduction |
| Online assessments | Proctored technical and language assessments "where applicable" | Your laptop, charger and ID; see the syllabus |
| Technical interview | One or two, video or in person | Projects, one language, basics; see the interview process |
| HR behavioural interview | Scheduled after technical success | Honest answers on location, shifts and your gap or backlog history, if any |
| Documents | Submitted on the candidate portal | Scans of marksheets, degree proof and ID |
| Offer and acceptance | Compensation discussion, formal offer, acceptance on the portal | Read the full letter before accepting |
| Background verification | Starts after acceptance; more documents may be asked | Everything you declared must match your paperwork |
How the fresher FAQ differs from the general steps
The same page has a separate answer for freshers. It lists, in this order: an online aptitude test that assesses logical reasoning, verbal ability and quantitative skills; a coding or technical assessment for programming knowledge and problem-solving; a group discussion "for select roles"; a technical interview; and an HR interview.
Read the two lists together, not as rivals. The general steps describe every Capgemini India hire, experienced or fresher. The fresher list is the campus-style funnel in a shorter form. Neither gives a round count, a duration, a cut-off or a question format. Candidate reports on those details are collected on the placement papers page and the off-campus drive page, and they are not official.
Eligibility: what is and is not published
On the pages PapersAdda read, Capgemini states no percentage, no backlog limit, no gap limit and no batch year for freshers. Read your own notice for each of those. The eligibility page and the backlog policy page gather the figures candidates report, and every one of them is unofficial.
One dated example shows why the notice beats any summary. Telangana Today, reporting a Capgemini hiring advertisement on 12 October 2021, said the company asked for 50 per cent and above in diploma, graduation and MCA, no more than 1 year of gap between academic stages, and no backlog at the time of the process. That is five years old and is not the current rule. It shows that Capgemini set conditions per drive, and that the numbers can differ from what coaching sites repeat today.
Timeline: what is sourced
Capgemini says the timeline "may vary depending on the role" and "typically takes a few weeks to complete". That is the only timeline it gives for the whole journey. It publishes no date for joining. The same 2021 advertisement said selected candidates would go through central training of 8-10 weeks, with salary during training, but that is an old statement and should not be read as today's policy.
Plan on this basis: expect a wait of weeks between stages, treat any date in your own email as the only firm date, and keep your documents ready before you are asked.
Where candidates get stuck
These points come from Capgemini's own pages, not from anecdotes.
- Messages from the wrong address. Capgemini says interview communication goes through its official applicant system, with Microsoft Teams invites for virtual interviews, and that it does not use any other platform for interviews. An invite from a personal email address is not valid.
- Not knowing where the status is. Application status is tracked in the candidate application login, which is also where pre-boarding and onboarding are handled after an offer.
- Verification after acceptance. Background verification starts only after you accept, and extra documents may be requested. A mismatch between what you declared and your paperwork is the risk. The BGV delay case shows what a stalled verification looks like from a candidate's side, though it is one person's account.
- Assuming there are fixed rounds. The interview tips page says the number of rounds and assessment types may vary with experience level and the specific role.
Staying safe
Capgemini states: "We do not ask candidates to pay any fees at any stage of hiring." Its pages say genuine emails come from an address ending in @capgemini.com, and that the company may first contact you on a professional network such as LinkedIn but continues from an official address. If something looks wrong, its interview tips page names the Interview Helpdesk ([email protected]), and its recruitment disclaimer points to the SpeakUp portal. Never pay anyone for an interview slot or an offer, and never share an OTP or password.
WHAT PAPERSADDA THINKS
The gap between what Capgemini publishes and what the internet repeats is the real story. The company gives you a clean outline and almost no numbers. Everything with a number in it, whether a cut-off, a track name or a pay band, is reported by candidates and changes between drives. Our advice is to build your preparation from two sources only: the official outline above, and the exact notice or mail you received. Use candidate reports to practise, not to decide whether you qualify.
Prepare the paperwork early. The stage most people lose time on is the quiet one after acceptance, and the cure is boring: every marksheet, ID and detail identical across your CV, portal entries and certificates.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the stages of the Capgemini recruitment process for freshers?
Capgemini India's own fresher FAQ lists an online aptitude test, a coding or technical assessment, a group discussion for select roles, a technical interview and an HR interview. Its general process page then adds document submission on the candidate portal, a compensation discussion, the offer, acceptance on the portal, background verification and onboarding.
How long does Capgemini take from application to joining?
Capgemini says the timeline varies by role and typically takes a few weeks for application review, interviews, assessments and onboarding. It publishes no fixed joining date for freshers, so your offer communication is the only reliable date.
Does Capgemini charge any fee for hiring?
No. Capgemini's recruitment pages say it does not ask candidates to pay any fee at any stage, and that genuine communication comes from an official Capgemini email address ending in @capgemini.com. Report anything else to the Interview Helpdesk or the SpeakUp portal.
What minimum percentage does Capgemini ask freshers for?
Capgemini's India careers pages do not publish a percentage, backlog or gap rule for freshers. Each campus or off-campus notice sets its own, so read your own notice. PapersAdda's eligibility page collects what candidates report, clearly labelled as unofficial.
Where do I track my Capgemini application?
Capgemini says you can track your application status in the candidate application login, which is also where pre-boarding and onboarding are managed after an offer. Use the address given in your official Capgemini email, not a link from a message or a forwarded post.
When does background verification happen at Capgemini?
Capgemini's process page places background verification after you formally accept the offer on the candidate portal, and says you may need to provide additional details or documents. It does not publish how long verification takes.
