Answer: 5%

Let CP = 100. MP = 140. SP = 140 × 0.75 = 105. Profit = 5, so profit % = 5%.

2. If A can complete a work in 12 days and B in 18 days, how many days will they take working together?

Answer: 7.2

Combined rate = 1/12 + 1/18 = 5/36. Days = 36/5 = 7.2.

3. The average of 5 numbers is 20. If one number is removed, the average becomes 18. What is the removed number?

Answer: 28

Sum of 5 = 100. Sum of 4 = 72. Removed = 100 − 72 = 28.

4. What is the compound interest on ₹10,000 at 10% per annum for 2 years compounded annually?

Answer: ₹2,100

A = 10000 × (1.1)² = 12100. CI = 2100.

5. A train 240m long passes a pole in 12 seconds. Its speed (km/hr) is:

Answer: 72

Speed = 240/12 = 20 m/s = 20 × 18/5 = 72 km/hr.

6. The ratio of ages of A and B is 5:7. After 6 years the ratio is 3:4. A's current age?

Answer: 30

Let ages = 5x, 7x. (5x+6)/(7x+6) = 3/4 → 20x+24 = 21x+18 → x=6. A = 30.

7. How many 3-digit numbers are divisible by 7?

Answer: 128

First 3-digit multiple of 7 = 105 (7×15). Last = 994 (7×142). Count = 142 − 15 + 1 = 128.

8. A mixture contains milk and water in 5:1. If 10L of water is added, the ratio becomes 5:3. Original milk?

Answer: 25L

Let milk = 5x, water = x. 5x/(x+10) = 5/3 → 15x = 5x + 50 → x = 5. Milk = 25L.

9. The simple interest on a sum for 3 years at 8% is ₹1,200. What is the principal?

Answer: ₹5,000

SI = P×R×T/100 → 1200 = P×8×3/100 → P = 5000.

10. If log₂ 8 = x, then x equals:

Answer: 3
