What is Flipkart GRiD, in one paragraph

GRiD stands for Flipkart's engineering campus challenge, run since its early editions in partnership with Unstop and, from GRiD 8.0, through Flipkart's own HirePro-powered Early Careers portal with Careernet as the hiring partner. It is not a hackathon you win a trophy at and go home. Flipkart designed it as a sourcing funnel: solve real e-commerce-shaped problems across a few filtering rounds, and the ones who clear all of them get pulled directly into Flipkart's hiring loop for SDE, AI engineering, or data science roles, instead of waiting for a standard campus placement drive.

GRiD 8.0 is the 2026 edition, confirmed

If you searched "Flipkart GRiD 2026," you are looking for GRiD 8.0. Flipkart numbers its GRiD editions sequentially rather than by year, and the edition that opened for registration in mid-2026 carries the number 8.0. This is confirmed by Flipkart's own Early Careers portal at flipkartearlycareers.hirepro.in, which hosted the GRiD 8.0 registration page through the application window.

One important operational change from earlier editions: GRiD 5.0 and GRiD 6.0 ran their registration and listing pages on Unstop. GRiD 8.0 does not have an active Unstop listing; it runs entirely through Flipkart's own HirePro-hosted portal. If you are searching Unstop for a GRiD 8.0 page, you will not find one. Register only through the official Flipkart Early Careers domain.

Is GRiD 8.0 still open, or has it already run?

As of this article's publish date, GRiD 8.0 registration is closed. The official hirepro.in/grid8.0.html page now forwards to a Careernet-hosted summary page rather than an active registration form. Aggregator sites, not officially confirmed by Flipkart, reported the assessment rounds (the 90-minute coding test and the case-study round) as active through August and into September 2026, with the top 48 teams heading toward the national finals. Flipkart has not publicly posted a national-finals date or a winners list as of this writing; confirm on the official portal for the latest status. Eligibility for Flipkart GRiD 8.0

This is a wide eligibility net by design. Unlike a single-company off-campus drive that targets only final-year students, GRiD deliberately pulls in second- and third-years too, because Flipkart uses strong non-final-year performers as a pipeline for future summer internships, not just immediate full-time hiring.

The four rounds, in order

1. Round 1, Screening. No coding test here. Flipkart evaluates your registration profile on academic consistency, non-academic achievements (competitive programming ratings, open-source contributions, prior hackathon results), and general profile strength. Keep your registration profile filled out completely and accurately; a thin profile can filter you out before you touch a single question.

2. Round 2, Coding Assessment. A 90-minute proctored online test of coding and technical aptitude. Expect a mix of data structures and algorithms problems similar in difficulty to what TCS, Infosys, and other mass-recruiter online assessments carry, but scored with a tighter bar since GRiD is competitive rather than a hiring-threshold test. Proctoring means webcam and screen monitoring are active; treat it like a real interview, not a practice round.

3. Round 3, Case Study Code. This is where GRiD differs from a typical OA. You get a Flipkart-shaped business problem relevant to the track you registered for, and you build and ship a working solution for review, not just a multiple-choice answer. This round rewards people who can turn an ambiguous problem statement into a working, reviewable codebase under time pressure, closer to the machine-coding round Flipkart uses in its regular hiring process (see our Flipkart hiring process guide for how that round works in the standard interview loop).

4. Round 4, National Finals. The top 48 candidates nationally, 16 from each of the three tracks, are invited to Flipkart's headquarters in Bengaluru, with travel and stay arranged by Flipkart. At the finals, individuals are grouped into teams of four and compete in a live, in-person hackathon: build a working prototype against a live problem statement and present it to a Flipkart panel. This is the only round where you are not competing solo.

What you actually get for clearing rounds

Be precise about what is confirmed and what is not. The official portal states:

• Digital, verified certificates for everyone who clears Rounds 1, 2, and 3.
• A "Top 50 Spotlight": the official page says the top 50 are "featured across Flipkart platforms".
• Travel and accommodation covered for the national finalists who make it to Bengaluru.
• Interview shortlists after Round 3 for candidates who meet the evaluation criteria: full-time roles and winter internships for 4th-year students, summer internships for 3rd-year students. An interview is not an offer.

What is not confirmed: several aggregator and blog sites quote a specific cash prize figure or a specific stipend and CTC number for GRiD finalists. None of those figures appear on Flipkart's own portal, and different aggregators quote different numbers, which is itself a sign none of them are reliable. Confirm any monetary figure directly on the official GRiD portal or with your placement cell before repeating it as fact. This article deliberately does not state one.

GRiD 8.0's three tracks, and which one to pick

• Software Development Track: core CS fundamentals, low-level and high-level system design, concurrency, database optimisation, and scalable backend problems. • AI Engineering Track: machine learning pipelines, LLM-adjacent problems, and computer vision problems framed around e-commerce use cases (recommendation, search ranking, catalog understanding).
• Data Science Track: predictive modelling, feature engineering, and large-scale data problems.

You can register for more than one track, but the subject matter of each track is different (software fundamentals versus ML versus data science), so spreading yourself across all three only makes sense if you are genuinely strong in more than one area. Most candidates are better served picking one track and preparing it properly.

How GRiD compares to Flipkart's standard interview process

GRiD is not a replacement for Flipkart's regular hiring process; it is a parallel, competitive entry point that funnels into the same outcome. If you clear GRiD, you still go through Flipkart's interview stages, just without the resume-shortlist gate. Flipkart GRiD is not Flipkart Academy: don't confuse the two

If you searched "Flipkart Academy" expecting a software or engineering program, you are probably thinking of GRiD or Girls Wanna Code. Flipkart Academy, hosted at flipkartacademy.com, is the Supply Chain Operations Academy (SCOA), a vocational training program for warehouse, delivery, and logistics roles aimed at candidates from underserved communities, not an engineering hiring channel. It has no coding assessment, no engineering eligibility criteria, and no connection to GRiD. If your goal is a software or data role, GRiD is the program you want; if you searched "Flipkart Academy" by name, confirm which program you actually meant before applying.

Flipkart Runway and Girls Wanna Code, briefly

Flipkart's Early Careers portal also lists Girls Wanna Code, described on the official page as an "Upskilling Program for Women Engineering Students." Flipkart's own portal does not spell out how this relates to the older Flipkart Runway program; media coverage of the most recent cycle (Girls Wanna Code 7.0) describes it as now combining what used to be two separate programs, Girls Wanna Code and Flipkart Runway, into one women-only track leading to summer internships and pre-placement interviews. Treat that merge detail as reported, not officially confirmed on Flipkart's own page, and verify your own eligibility on the portal directly. How to prepare for GRiD's rounds

• For Round 2 (coding assessment): treat it exactly like a standard product-company OA. Timed DSA practice under proctoring conditions, medium-difficulty array, string, graph, and DP problems, and a habit of reading constraints carefully before coding, since a 90-minute window punishes re-reads.
• For Round 3 (case study code): practise turning a paragraph-long, underspecified problem into working, testable code against a deadline (the official portal does not publish a fixed duration for this round, so plan to work fast and check your own registration confirmation for the exact window). This is closer to Flipkart's machine-coding interview round than to a competitive-programming contest. Clean class design and handling edge cases matter more than clever one-liners.
• For Round 4 (finals, if you get there): you will be teamed with three strangers on the spot. Practising how you communicate a technical plan quickly, not just how you code solo, is worth real prep time.

Is GRiD worth your time if you already have an offer?

If you already have a placement offer from your campus drive and it is a product-based company, GRiD's marginal value drops, since the main prize (a hiring pathway) is something you already have. If your existing offer is from a service-based company and you are chasing a product-company switch, GRiD is one of the more legitimate on-ramps available, since it tests the same skills product-company interviews test rather than a generic aptitude test. GRiD is one of the more honest campus challenges out there: Flipkart tells you upfront what clearing it gets you (a hiring pathway, not a guaranteed offer, not a fixed cash prize), and the round structure genuinely tests the skills its regular interview loop tests, rather than throwing an unrelated aptitude test at you. The catch is that Flipkart moved registration off Unstop and onto its own HirePro portal starting with this edition, so a lot of the "official" information circulating right now is aggregator copy-paste, including specific prize figures nobody can source back to Flipkart. Our honest advice: register only on flipkartearlycareers.hirepro.in, ignore any site quoting a specific cash prize or CTC number for GRiD itself, and treat the Round 2 and Round 3 prep as identical to prepping for Flipkart's standard OA and machine-coding round, because that overlap is real and it means your prep time is never wasted even if you do not clear GRiD itself.
