That framing matters because a lot of placement blogs and YouTube videos talk about WoW as if it were a distinct SDE internship program with its own package and PPO track. Officially, it is not that. It is a community and preparation layer: virtual events, skill-building sessions, interview-prep talks, and fireside chats with Amazon engineers and recent hires, that Amazon runs specifically for women students, with the stated goal of building a longer-term pipeline into tech careers, including but not limited to SDE roles.

Candidate write-ups describe several past cycles in which the WoW community was the entry point for a women-focused internship hiring drive (candidates applied through the WoW channel, then went through an OA and interview funnel toward SDE internship offers). Who Is Eligible

The official language is "women students across India, who are currently pursuing" one of these programs. It does not name a specific graduating batch year on that page. That is consistent with WoW being a multi-year community rather than a single hiring cycle: Amazon has said it wants to "reach students soon after they enrol... and engage with them over several years."

Where a specific internship-hiring cycle has run under the WoW name, candidates report additional filters layered on top: commonly cited criteria include being in your pre-final year, having no active backlog (reportedly), and not having interviewed with Amazon for the same role family in the preceding six months. None of these additional filters are stated on the official pages we could fetch, so treat them as candidate-reported and unofficial, and verify against your specific year's invite or JD, not against this article.

How Selection Works

Two different things get called "Amazon WoW selection" depending on the year and the source, and sources genuinely disagree on the details, so here is both, clearly labelled.

The practical read for a fresher: WoW is worth joining for the mentorship and prep access even if you also plan to apply through Amazon's regular off-campus channel. The two are not mutually exclusive, and being part of the WoW community does not disqualify you from a regular application.
